Transformers Producers Secure Rights to Space Invaders

The 1978 Arcade hit could be making a blockbuster debut...

The producers behind The Wedding Planner and all three Transformers movies have secured the right to produce a movie based on Taito's classic Space Invaders.

A report in the L.A. Times last year revealed a potential adaptation of the 1978 Arcade hit Space Invaders by Warner Bros.

Now Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Gigi Pritzker have acquired the rights for this adaptation, it has become unclear whether or not this project and Warner's are one-in-the-same, but what is clear is how horrified we are of this potential catastrophe.

The Hollywood Reporter has claimed that the pair are trying to find a suitable writer to create a script, which we simply cannot fathom.

It's more than likely that Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox will get together for another terrible on-screen partnership.

The video game itself was credited by Shigeru Miyamoto (the man behind Mario) as a game that revolutionized the video game industry and that he "was never interested in video games before seeing it."

Technology journalist Jason Whittaker emphasized Space Invaders success to ending the video game crash of 1977.

Nothing can do justice to a franchise of such magnitude, we know nothing about the potential adaptation and we already have our fingers crossed for damage control.

Games that need a Hollywood treatment...

How do you even make a movie about this? It is a game with no storyline.
